In December 2024, UNESCO added sake to its Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The UAE is the most active market in the Gulf for Japanese premium dining and beverage. sake.ae is the definitive domain at that intersection — registered March 2022.
The UAE Sake Market
UNESCO's December 2024 designation of sake as Intangible Cultural Heritage was the single most significant event in sake's global cultural positioning — it transformed the category from Japanese export to world heritage. The UAE, already the most active Gulf market for Japanese premium dining, is positioned to capitalise on this uplift. Nobu One Za'abeel opened January 2026. TakaHisa Dubai holds three Gault & Millau toques. The Japan–UAE bilateral food export platform, launched August 2024, institutionalises the cultural pipeline. sake.ae is the domain for everything that follows.
"The UAE foodservice market is projected to reach $13.37B by 2032, growing at 5.1% CAGR — Japanese cuisine leads the premium category by value and cultural cachet."
